LOSING POKER HAND SCOOPS £42,000 FROM £140,000 JACKPOT

Grosvenor Poker’s National Bad Beat Jackpot dropped at Grosvenor Casino The Victoria, London, paying out a total jackpot of £140,000 across the table and Cash Game Texas Hold’ Em players nationwide.
The National Bad Beat Jackpot is the UK’s largest Cash Game Poker jackpot and is won when a player loses with a very strong poker hand (The Bad Beat).
Four of a kind is one of the strongest hands in poker and is rarely beaten. Most players holding four of a kind would be happy to commit all of their chips, expecting to win the pot. That’s exactly what happened when Renato Rossi, a 53-year-old charity worker from London, held four sixes at The Victoria.
Renato quickly became the loser of the game, as his hand was beaten by four aces. This triggered Grosvenor Poker’s National Bad Beat Jackpot, turning defeat into a £42,000 payday and creating 183 winners across the country.
At the time of the drop, the jackpot stood at £140,000. Renato received the largest share, taking home £42,000 for holding the losing qualifying hand.
Another lucky London-local, Leo Scoon, won £21,000 for holding the winning hand.
A further £7,000 was shared among the other six players seated at the table, with each receiving £1,167.
The remaining £70,000 was shared among players actively playing Cash Game Texas Hold’ Em across participating Grosvenor Poker rooms nationwide at the time the jackpot dropped. In total, 175 players qualified for the active player share, with each receiving £400.
Renato Rossi, who took home £42,000 for the losing hand, said: “Honestly, I’m still in shock. You never expect to lose with four of a kind, so when my quad sixes got beaten it was a complete rollercoaster! But, then everyone started telling me it meant the Bad Beat Jackpot had dropped. The atmosphere at the table was unreal. Turning a hand like that into £42,000 is something I’ll never forget and I’m looking forward to booking a few holidays.”
Philippe Clement, Venue Director at Grosvenor Casino The Victoria, said: “It was an unforgettable moment in our poker room. The National Bad Beat Jackpot is always an incredible story because it rewards the drama of poker – and it certainly delivered. Congratulations to Renato and Leo, and to every player nationwide who shared in the win.”
This is also the third time in a row the National Bad Beat Jackpot has been won at Grosvenor Casino The Victoria, one of the capital’s most iconic casinos.
