L&Q’s London Living Rent Offering Extends to The London Borough of Culture

Continuing to expand L&Q’s affordable housing provision in the capital, a brand-new collection of London Living Rent (LLR) homes has just launched in Croydon with L&Q at Queen’s Quarter.

Funded by the Mayor of London, LLR is a Government-backed scheme which enables tenants to rent a home at a discounted rate – sometimes even up to 50% less than a similar property on the open market. This helps renters to save additional money each month, which can go towards buying a home – either through Shared Ownership or outright. Plus, all properties that are on the LLR scheme guarantee tenants of an assured shorthold tenancy of a minimum of three years and a maximum of ten, offering security in what can often be a fast-moving market.*

With nearly 60 years’ experience in the rental market, L&Q is the capital’s largest landlord and provider of affordable homes, making them experts at understanding what’s important when it comes to renting a property. Since first launching their LLR services in 2018, L&Q has established an extensive property portfolio, taking a great deal of pride in the status of its developments.

Named as the London Borough of Culture for 2023, L&Q’s new one-, two- and three-bedroom rental homes in L&Q at Queen’s Quarter add to the Shared Ownership homes being also delivered at the development. The contemporary apartments are located in the beating heart of Croydon, a short walk from a wealth of leisure and retail facilities. With recent regeneration putting Croydon firmly on the map, today the area is a thriving mix of the new and the old. It’s where one of London’s historic street markets rubs shoulders with the vibrant food court at BOXPARK, and the independent boutique stores of Croydon Old Town live alongside big brand high street shopping. As part of the Culture Campaign, Croydon will receive more than £1m in funding to deliver a programme of ambitious cultural activities for the borough.

Andrea Palmer, Head of LLR at L&Q comments, “Our recent launch of London Living Rent Homes in Croydon demonstrate our continued commitment to supporting all types of property hunters to navigate London’s competitive market. The LLR scheme presents a fantastic opportunity for renters to access some of the capital’s best neighbourhoods, at a discounted rent and within a scheme designed help them get onto the property ladder.

“Our apartments in L&Q at Queen’s Quarter are launching at a very exciting time – with Croydon announced as the Borough for Culture for this year, new tenants are set to benefit from living in a rapidly evolving neighbourhood that delivers the best of both worlds when it comes to nearby green spaces and convenient local amenities.”

Homes in Queen’s Quarter bring modern flexible living spaces to a thriving destination. Internally, each apartment has been designed to a fully inclusive specification with integrated appliances in the kitchen including a microwave, oven, ceramic hob, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. Main bedrooms come with en-suite bathrooms featuring modern white sanitaryware and chrome fixtures. Delivering sought-after outdoor space, each home comes with a private balcony or terrace, and residents also have exclusive access to a rooftop landscaped garden.

A green oasis in the city, L&Q’s LLR apartments overlook the adjacent Queen’s Gardens, a popular local park which has undergone significant regeneration as part of the project. The recently completed community-inspired outside space features manicured lawns, leafy mature trees, bright flower beds and new play areas. In the local area, new tenants also benefit from an array of cultural destinations, including independent theatre pubs, art cafes, live music, museums and even a board game cafe bar. Perfect for escaping the hustle and bustle of the capital’s streets, nearby Wandle Park is a 21-acre green space complete with a river, bandstand and ornamental garden.

Just 15-minutes from both central London and Gatwick airport by train, transport links from L&Q at Queen’s Quarter are extensive. The development is located just moments from East Croydon Station, which enjoys a regular service into London Victoria and London Bridge as well as connecting to The London Overground which travels through New Cross, and up into East London. When travelling around more locally, tenants can hop on London’s only tram line which links central and West Croydon to Beckenham, New Addington and Wimbledon via a quick stop at IKEA to help furnish their new home.

Monthly rental prices start from £1,196.11.
