Matcha – the mean, green superfood is a firm favourite in the UK right now and continuing to boom. The global matcha market is expected to be worth $5 billion dollars by 2028*.

For many, it’s not only delicious but a much better caffeine source than coffee. While coffee can cause jitters and energy crashes, matcha’s combination of caffeine-L-theanine delivers a much smoother energy boost.

Cafe Mama & Sons – Ubé Matcha

Recently opened in Kentish Town by Omar Shah (Mamasons, Ramo Ramen), Cafe Mama & Sons offers Japanese style sandos and sweet treats as well as a huge array of cold drinks.

Their matcha options include the Ube Matcha, made with classic Filipino ingredient Ube – (purple yam), giving it a bright purple colour.

The cafe also offers a Mango Matcha, and the innovative Buko Breeze, with coconut water and matcha foam, for a refreshing alternative to the classic matcha iced latte.

Floozie Cookies – Matcha Mango Colada

Floozie, Covent Garden’s ultimate sweet treat stop-off delivering delicious vegan cookies and shakes, has launched a summer range with some fabulous flavour combinations:

– Matcha Mango Colada (mango with coconut)
– Strawberry Matcha Spritz
– White Chocolate Matcha
– Earth Matcha (melon and vanilla)

Each shake is priced at £6.20 and can be enjoyed with one of Floozie’s famous cookies alongside.
