MAMA SHELTER TURNS UP THE VOLUME FOR INTERNATIONAL MEN’S DAY

This November 19th, from 7pm onwards, Mama’s Bar will come alive with smooth sounds, great company, and an evening dedicated to celebrating the men who inspire, uplift, and keep things rolling — and yes, everyone’s invited to the party.

In collaboration with long-time friend and curator Graziella Affinita, Mama’s is set to shine a spotlight on some of the city’s brightest emerging talent with a hand-picked line-up of three standout artists.

First up is Louie Forward, who began his musical journey busking on the streets of London before taking the stage at iconic venues such as The Royal Albert Hall and Hackney Empire. His sound blends folk and rock, simmering with heart and authenticity.

Next on the bill, Anthony Hughes brings his signature soulful pop energy to the stage. A BBC Introducing and Gaydio “Tip of the Week” artist, Hughes returns to Mama Shelter for his second performance, ready to charm audiences once again.

Rounding off the night is Laville, the evening’s headliner — a North London-based soul singer and songwriter celebrated for his fusion of classic soul, funk, and jazz. Signed to Acid Jazz Records, Laville’s debut album The Wanderer showcased his smooth vocals and emotive storytelling, leading to tours with John Legend and collaborations across London’s vibrant scene. This will mark Laville’s third appearance at Mama Shelter, promising an unforgettable finale.

Guests can expect an intimate night of soul, R&B, folk, rock, and feel-good rhythms, designed to soothe, stir, and set the perfect tone for midweek magic.

The live sessions will take over Mama’s Bar for an evening all about connection, creativity, and community. With a little help from London Essence Co., who are proudly sponsoring the event, every guest will be welcomed with a signature drink included in the £10 ticket price — because good music deserves great company (and even better cocktails).

Whether toasting to the men who inspire them, celebrating themselves, or simply discovering fresh local sounds, guests will find that Mama’s Bar is the place to be this International Men’s Day — and this year, it’s getting its moment in the spotlight with a soundtrack to match.
