Food shoppers were left in awe this morning as a team of traditional Lucha Libre Mexican-style wrestlers staged a match in a local Iceland supermarket.

The Fulham store in London put on the surprise spectacle for shoppers, which saw colourfully dressed wrestlers El Nordico, Illusionisto and El Piranha battle it out in the frozen aisle.

Onlookers were left with their jaws on the floor, as the wrestlers showcased death-defying jumps, body slams and headlocks.

Iceland put on the dramatic, adrenaline-fueled show to celebrate the launch of their new and exclusive partnership with Mexican restaurant brand, Chiquito. Keen-eyed Iceland shoppers may see impromptu wrestling matches pop up in stores across the country this week.

The supermarket teamed up with the London School of Lucha Libre to choreograph the fight sequence which saw Illusionisto and El Piranha come to blows over an argument about a pack of chicken enchiladas.

A throwdown in the frozen aisle ensued as the wrestlers grappled, culminating in El Piranha being slammed into a shopping trolley.

The wrestling team also took to the streets to spread the word to customers about the new and exciting dishes available in the new Chiquito range, exclusive to Iceland and The Food Warehouse.

Customers can enjoy a Mexican feast from the comfort of their own home, with 21 brand new products to choose from including Spicy Chicken Enchiladas (£4, 550g) Chiquito Piri Piri Half Chicken (£6.00, 865g) and Chiquito Halloumi Fries (£4.00, 12 pack). The Chiquito range starts from just £2.00.

Those wanting to enjoy the burrito bowl trend can get their hands on the Chiquito Pulled Pork Burrito Bowl (£4.00, 460g) or Chiquito Beef Burrito Bowl (£4.00, 460g), which contain a balanced mix of protein, vegetables and carbs.

Meanwhile, customers looking to put a Mexican twist on an Italian favourite will want to pick up the Chiquito Nacho Chilli Lasagne (£3.00, 450g) (yes, you read that right).

“Customers were treated to a show-stopping performance featuring traditional Lucha Libre wrestlers, as they carried out their morning shop.

“Our new Chiquito food range is spicing up mealtimes, so we thought we would spice up the in-store experience by unleashing El Nordico, Illusionisto and El Piranha to battle it out in the frozen aisle.

“We teamed up with The London School of Lucha Libre to put on the show which showcased the colour, fun, and flavour of the new hot and spicy food range”

El Piranha said:

“I knew Illusionisto would be trying to get his hands on the new Chiquito range before me, but I was ready and waiting to bring the pain. Those Enchiladas are mine!!!”
