‘NECK’ THE HALLS WITH BOUGHS OF HOLLY – CHESSINGTON WORLD OF ADVENTURES ZOO GETS INTO THE FESTIVE SPIRIT!
With the ‘big day’ fast approaching, and with more than 1,000 animals in their care, the expert Zookeepers at Chessington World of Adventures Resort has been treating some of their residents to some festive delights.
The Zoo team are always looking at ways to create engaging and innovative enrichment activities, this year includes gifting their Western Lowland gorillas with a 6ft tailored Christmas tree, carefully decorated with pepper and aubergine trimmings, and there are sprouts on the menu as Southern white rhino tuck into the Christmas dinner staple that is definitely to their liking.
While elsewhere at the Surrey Resort, their tower of Rothschild giraffes ‘necked’ the halls with their own edible wreaths made from boughs of holly, and the Bolivian squirrel monkeys and Humboldt penguins have been given some early presents.
Oliver Whiteway, Zoo Operations Manager at Chessington World of Adventures Resort, commented: “We’re always looking for new and innovative ways to enrich our animals lives, and what better way to celebrate Christmas than by getting them involved in the festivities! From our Rothschild giraffe enjoying a wreath that has been catered specifically to their dietary needs, to our Southern white rhino adding sprouts to their meals, each of our residents have been given a seasonal treat to join our guests with their celebrations.”
Limited tickets are still available for Chessington World of Adventures Resort’s Christmas experience – Winter’s Tail – where guests can meet Father Christmas himself until December 24th. Those in need of a thrill after Christmas can also visit the Resort from December 27th – January 3rd, 2022, for a selection of thrills.
