Nessa Soho Introduces £1 Oyster Hour – The Perfect After-Work Indulgence in the Heart of Soho
Vibrant and informal British restaurant and bar, Nessa sits at the intersection of Brewer, Glasshouse and Warwick Streets in London’s lively Soho. Serving a menu of classic dishes that champion seasonality with a creative twist. Inspired by the rich creative history of Soho, Vanessa Bell and other artists and creatives of the Bohemian movement, Nessa’s menu is shaped by the seasons and cooked over flames, using produce from Britain and across the channel. Meanwhile, licensed until late, Nessa’s bar is a Soho destination for classic drinks, inventive cocktails and creative gatherings of art and music.
Drawing on both British influences and Cenci’s passion for global flavours, Nessa is an expression of elegant yet playful, inventive British cuisine. With the kitchen now open late for diners until 10:15pm, the snack section, the menu includes the likes of Cheese and onion croquettes with grape husk mustard. Small plates on offer include the likes of ; Celeriac carbonara, confit egg, pancetta, truffle – a playful British interpretation of carbonara; and Aged beef tartare with beef fat, raw egg, charred sourdough, with the suggested optional extra of Homemade BBQ Crisps served on the side. Mains include the likes of:
Coronation chicken cooked in tandoori sauce and served with wild rice and apricot puree; and Chargrilled seabream, served with fine green beans, brown shrimp, and peppercorn sauce. Desserts nod towards the nod towards old school, reimagined British puddings, such as Cherry Bakewell with almond frosting and caramelised pecans; and burnt violet cheesecake, with rhubarb and hibiscus compote.
Open until 1am Thursday – Saturday, the bar has its own wine and cocktail list, as well as a selection of snacks and small plates, also from Cenci; perfect for late evening drinks and casual light suppers. Cocktails include the Boho Negroni (East London Gin, Nectarine, Mancino Ambrato, Luxardo Bianco and saffron) and the Abstract 19 (Ramsbury Vodka, Aperol, Melonada, Strawberry, and Mount Fuji bitter, and served in a handmade porcelain cup). There is a handsome horseshoe bar on the one side, plus plentiful lounge seating, accompanied by a combination of bespoke and mid-century modern vintage furniture, art and a mix of textural fabrics. Leading through to the dining room, brushed oak and arabescato corchia marble fixtures, cosy banquette seating and tables overlooking Brewer Street set the scene for intimate and relaxed dining. Outside tables are shaded from the summer sun by an awning, ideal for al fresco drinking, dining and people-watching.
The 98-cover restaurant is on the ground floor of the 1 Warwick members’ house in a renovated 1910 neo-baroque building. Nessa – designed by boutique interior architecture and design firm Fettle – is full of the aesthetic character associated with the Maslow’s group and incorporates two spaces: a sophisticated yet unpretentious bar and an inviting dining area. Inspiration has been taken from the eclectic and colourful establishments that are synonymous with Soho’s past, weaving this with references to Edwardian baroque architecture and the existing features that envelope the building.
