New app for London tube commuters

A COMMUTER fed up with boarding crowded trains has developed a new free-app – which will help Londoners returning to the tube.

Dash Tabor invented the free app TUBR, which alerts people on the City’s underground-network to crowds and congestion before they arrive at stations.

It uses cutting-edge technology and algorithms to monitor and track passenger levels across the city and then feeds back the information to users planning a journey.

This allows Tuber users to plan ahead or travel via alternative routes suggested by the TUBR app.

Thousands of commuters have downloaded the app and are now using it as a tool for safely returning to the office after more than a year in lockdown.

The surge in use comes as research conducted by TUBR found commuters are increasingly anxious about returning to public transport.

In TUBR’s poll, a third of people admitted they were feeling “anxious” about using public transport again. While one in four said they had “not used it at all”. Only 10 per cent admitted to being “relaxed” about the idea of hopping back on the Tube.

A separate study on “Covid-19 anxiety syndrome”conducted recently by London’s South Bank University, saw 54% of those polled say they “strongly endorsed” avoiding public transport entirely.

Inventor Dash, 34, said she created TUBR after being left fed up with spending countless journeys on the Tube with her face wedged into a commuter’s armpit.

She said: “Our mission at TUBR is simple; we want to help people travel in a smarter and safer way and in a way that fully meets the needs of the modern-day commuter.

“There’s no such thing as the 9-5 anymore and people need accurate, reliable travel information 24/7. Our unique algorithm delivers that and puts the power back in the users hands by ensuring they have all the information they need to travel in the smartest way.

“As we come out of the pandemic, developing seamless ways to travel safely on public transport has never been more important. After months and months in lockdown, TUBR is helping provide a lifeline solution which will help get London moving safely again. ”

Commenting on the invention she added: “I dreaded my morning commute. For years I’d cram on the Northern line with everyone else just hoping I could get a bit of the aisle where I was less likely to wonder if a touch was an accident or more likely to avoid a stranger’s armpit in my face. I started paying attention to what time I’d leave the house and realised that a mere minute made a huge impact on the experience I had on the Tube. Why wasn’t data solving this problem for me? Why wasn’t there an app telling me how to travel to get the best experience for me? So I started asking around, I put out surveys and discovered that I wasn’t the only one who wanted this problem solved. As we move out of Covid this app is more important than it ever was.”

*All users need to do is download the FREE app which is available on both the App and Play Stores. TUBR will then help plan your journey in the smartest way.
