Savona Dental joins forces with SameDayDoctor and Nishkam SWAT to provide essential care packages, with plans for future community health screenings.
Canary Wharf, London – Newly opened private dental practice Savona Dental has partnered with SameDayDoctor and local charity Nishkam SWAT to support people experiencing homelessness in East London, providing essential hygiene items and practical care packages as part of a community outreach initiative in Stratford.
Founded by husband and wife dentists Dr Parneet Sehmi and Dr Chanpreet Kalsi, Savona Dental worked alongside Dr Gurpreet Gill from SameDayDoctor and volunteers from Nishkam SWAT to prepare and distribute bags containing toothbrushes, toothpaste and thick warm socks, while SameDayDoctor contributed feminine hygiene products to ensure the packs met a broad range of everyday health needs.
For the team at Savona Dental, the initiative reflects a philosophy that healthcare extends far beyond the clinic.
As a Sikh-owned family business, the practice is inspired by the principle of seva – the act of selfless service to others without expectation of reward.
“It’s been really nice to get involved in such a great cause so close to home,” said Dr Chanpreet Kalsi, Co-Founder of Savona Dental.
“As healthcare professionals, we spend every day looking after patients, but being able to support our local community outside the clinic, alongside other local organisations, has been incredibly rewarding. Looking after people’s health isn’t limited to dentistry, and we’re proud to play a small part in supporting those who need it most.”
The care packages were distributed in Stratford by volunteers from Nishkam SWAT, a charitable organisation that provides food, practical support and outreach services to vulnerable members of the community across London.
The collaboration also highlights the value of local healthcare organisations working together to improve public health beyond their individual services.
“Simple everyday items like a toothbrush, toothpaste or clean socks can make a genuine difference to someone’s comfort, dignity and wellbeing,” added Dr Kalsi. “It was inspiring to see the dedication of the Nishkam SWAT volunteers and to work alongside Dr Gurpreet Gill and the SameDayDoctor team on such an important initiative.”
While the project focused on providing immediate support, the organisations hope it marks the beginning of a longer-term partnership.
Savona Dental is currently exploring opportunities to work with Nishkam SWAT on future community initiatives, including providing basic health and wellbeing screenings from its Canary Wharf clinic to help improve access to preventative healthcare for vulnerable groups.
Since opening its doors in Canary Wharf, Savona Dental has positioned itself as a modern, family run dental practice focused on patient-centred care, advanced technology and creating a calm, welcoming environment for busy London professionals and nervous patients alike. Community engagement forms an important part of the practice’s vision, alongside delivering high-quality private dentistry.
Dr Chanpreet concluded:
“Community initiatives like this remind us that healthcare is ultimately about people. We’re incredibly grateful to everyone involved and look forward to supporting Nishkam SWAT again in the future.”
