NEW LISTING SECURED WITH OCADO FOR SEEP ECO CLEANING PRODUCTS
Seep secures a further national listing with Ocado this week launching five new products with the online retailer.
This Plastic Free July, households will now have more choice to be able to clean in a sustainable way.
Over 80% of washing up sponges and microfibre cloths are made from virgin plastic, which can’t be recycled, totalling a massive 600M products adding to landfill every year in the UK. The listing with Ocado means that the products will be easily available to tens of thousands of households who shop the online retailer daily.
Two sizes of rubber gloves (medium and large), sponge cloths (two pack), bamboo cloth (single) and the classic sponge scourer (single) are all be launched this week.
Laura Harnett founded Seep in lockdown as she was frustrated at the lack of stylish, eco-friendly accessories in the cleaning tools aisle. Now it is the only B-Corp cleaning accessory brand in Europe, with a goal to prevent 1bn plastic cleaning items from ending up in landfill by 2030 and have already diverted 3.5M items (10.1 tons of waste) from landfills since launch.
Laura said: “I am determined to clean up the way that we clean up. People don’t realise the damage they are doing to their homes, bodies and the wider world with the amount of microplastic that’s released from sponges and cloths every time they are used. This listing with Ocado means a great deal to me as it means so many more people will become aware of a sustainable way to clean and what better to launch than during Plastic Free July.”
Alice Hunt, buyer for Ocado, said: “We are really pleased to be the first supermarket to offer female founded, compostable cleaning brand, Seep. We couldn’t be more excited to support their mission to eliminate 1bn plastic cleaning items from landfill by 2030.”
The gloves are made from 100% natural latex and fair-trade rubber, fully plastic free and biodegradable. They are thinner than regular gloves meaning they are extra comfortable to wear and are in a stylish turquoise colour.
The sponge cloths come in two fresh lemon-inspired designs within the pack. They are made from cotton waste that can’t be used in the fashion industry and sustainable wood pulp and are fully compostable.
Bamboo cloths are a vibrant aqua, turquoise colour way, are highly absorbent and can be used both wet and dry.
The Seep sponge is made with renewable materials including wood pulp and natural loofah fibres, it is highly absorbent, durable and 100% compostable. They require less soap due to the natural fibres of the loofah, which create more suds than plastic options, also saving the amount of detergent used.
Seep is also listed in Lakeland and Oxfam nationally; Booths and Whole Foods market stores regionally as well as being available via their own site and Amazon.
