New Malden development set to bring nearly £1.5M investment to local area

On Wednesday 17th January 2024, Barratt London officially marked its groundbreaking ceremony as part of the official launch of its new development, Sterling Place in New Malden. The event offered representatives from Merton Council the opportunity to hear more about the development and Barratt London’s plans to enhance the wider area.

Nearly £1.5m will be invested into the London suburb of New Malden and its surrounding areas thanks to Barratt London, with more than half a million already allocated to community enhancement, employment, training, and sustainability.

Barratt London also recently invited local school, Sacred Heart Primary to their Sterling Place development for a tour of the site and to view their artwork, which is now displayed on a hoarding surrounding the development and depict the history of the restored site. Their designs, which the pupils created over the summer, are now presented for the local community to enjoy.

Sterling Place will be built on a former print works and deliver 456 one, two, and three-bedroom apartments with a mix of private and affordable homes.169 affordable new homes will be launching as part of their brand-new development in New Malden in June 2024, with the site expected to complete in 2027.

In addition to much needed new homes, Barratt London will also offer a Car Club service to residents who wish to become members of the scheme, and these are allocated as “on street” parking for easy access to all. Each home will be entitled to three years of free Car Club membership from the date of occupation, where one car club replaces the carbon emissions of five privately owned vehicles.[1]

Sterling Place has four bus routes on the doorstep and three railway stations within a 20-minute walk, including Raynes Park with services to London Waterloo in just 24 minutes. Additionally, the District and Northern lines can be accessed from nearby Wimbledon tube station.
