NEW M&S FOR LONDON COMMUTERS IS BACK AT WATERLOO STATION – AND IT’S BETTER THAN EVER!

It’s time – after months of anticipation by London Waterloo commuters, Marks & Spencer has today (Tuesday 10 October) officially opened its better, fresher new M&S Food store right in the heart of London’s busiest railway station. Launched in partnership with SSP, the M&S London Waterloo team gathered at the store entrance at 10am with store manager, Dharmen Gunnasaya, who was joined by guests of honour Percy Pig and Colin the Caterpillar, to cut the ribbon and declare the store officially open.

Located prominently in the centre of the London Waterloo concourse, the much-anticipated opening is welcome news to the hundreds of thousands of passengers who use the station every week, and have been missing the store since it closed last year to enable ongoing developments at London Waterloo station.

Designed with shoppers on the go in mind, the brand-new, better, fresher M&S London Waterloo store is the retailer’s biggest and busiest travel location. The store is opposite platforms 5-10 and offers a warm welcome to customers with the perfect range of M&S Food favourites for grabbing a convenient, delicious meal or snack on the go – with everything from the iconic range of M&S sandwiches, to the freshest produce from M&S Select Farms and restaurant-quality prepared meals to take home and enjoy.

The new store includes a bigger than ever M&S Bakery with fresh, daily-baked bread and pastries – including the new M&S Collection Sourdough (made using a traditional 30-hour process) and the M&S-exclusive and much-loved Yumnuts™. Other Foodhall highlights include an on-the-go selection of freshly prepared hot food and the latest M&S coffee machines where customers can quickly prepare their own iced and hot coffee drinks, made with M&S fairtrade beans and RSPCA Assured fresh milk.

And because we’ve all been there – rushing for that last-minute train from Platform 24 – the store has a whole new layout with a bigger entrance and more tills than ever before to make the shopping experience as speedy and convenient as possible.

For customers with more time to shop, the new store also offers the perfect M&S clothing & gifting selection on the first floor, making it one of the first stores in the whole country – and the first ever in London – to feature the retailer’s new-look store design after successful launches earlier this year in Leeds and Liverpool. Perfect whether you’re looking for Autumn/Winter style inspiration, or something special for a last-minute gift.

The relaunch at Waterloo follows recent wider M&S store development in London, with the retailer earlier this year announcing a £12.5 million investment in the capital and the creation of 200 new jobs with the opening of a new store in Purley Way, Croydon and an upcoming new M&S Foodhall in Earlsfield. The retailer also created almost 200 additional new jobs for Londoners in 2022 with new M&S Foodhall openings in Canary Wharf and Battersea Power Station.

M&S has over 100 owned stores within London – from South Woodford to Sutton, Brent Cross to Bexleyheath, and everywhere in between – and today’s investment in Waterloo will enable the retailer to reach even more customers across the capital.

The team at M&S London Waterloo were thrilled to open the doors to customers this morning. And to surprise morning commuters, Percy Pig and Colin the Caterpillar were on-hand to welcome shoppers through the door.

Soaking up the opening day celebrations, Store Manager, Dharmen Gunnasaya, was excited to unveil the brand-new London Waterloo store: “We know lots of people have missed us over the last few months, so we’re thrilled to be back open in Waterloo station today with a brand-new look and lots of new store features – including our bigger than ever M&S Bakery, our new M&S coffee on-the-go offer and our super stylish clothing & gifting store. The last few weeks have been spent putting the finishing touches to our new store and I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone in the team who has worked so hard to make sure everything is ready for our big opening day.”

The store is located in London Waterloo station, opposite platforms 6 & 7, London SE1 7LY. The store is open Monday – Saturday 6:30am – 1:00am and Sunday 8am – 11pm.
