New Research Reveals Single Renters In London Have Over £600 Spare A Month

‘Best Cities for Single Renters’ was created by the team at Thomas Sanderson to discover the most and least affordable UK cities for those renting alone.

The team looked at property prices along with the cost of utilities and groceries to calculate average outgoings.  This was then subtracted from the average salaries in the largest cities in the UK to determine how much money the average renter would be left with every month.

The research found that the average salary in London is £29,480.00. The average rent is £1,557.89 and the cost of groceries plus utilities came to £216.00 therefore this would leave £682.78 a month for a single renter.

The research revealed that two of the most affordable cities for single renters were in Scotland, with Sunderland in third position. Aberdeen came out top, where renters were left with £1,526.24 once utilities, rent and groceries had been taken out of their salary. Renters were left with more than £1,000 in all top five of the most affordable cities which are:
