New Research Reveals the UK Cities Where Your Car Is at the Greatest Risk of Being Stolen
A new study by Scrap Car Comparison has revealed that Glasgow is the UK city where drivers are most likely to be hit by car theft.
The research analysed 257,268 tweets including terms such as “car was stolen” from cities and countries around the world, to highlight where people are most frequently discussing the topic and using the platform to try and locate their stolen motor, as a result of being victims themselves. The total number of tweets was ranked for each location to reveal which cities and states are the worst hit by the car theft.
The Worst UK Cities for Car Theft
With more than 2,000 tweets from Glasgow referencing carjacking, the Scottish city takes the unfortunate title of the worst city in the UK for car thefts. However, with ‘car theft gangs’ known to operate in the area, it may be of no surprise to residents of the city.
Brighton (1,993 tweets) and Belfast (1,901 tweets) follow as the second and third worst cities for car theft in the UK. With cities from three of the four UK nations making up the top three, Wales follows closely with its capital Cardiff ranking in fifth position, with 1,886 tweets coming from the city.
