NEWLY-WEDS USE HELP TO BUY TO ACQUIRE FUTURE FAMILY HOME IN DIDCOT

An Oxfordshire couple with family planning in mind have been able to take the first step on the property ladder using Help to Buy with David Wilson Homes.

Namrik (36) and Rian (33) Lall both lived with their parents before moving to the Dida Gardens community in Didcot and, with only a 5% deposit required through the government-backed scheme, got a home of their own and the extra space they needed.

The couple, a Key Account Manager and a Pharmacist respectively, got married in December 2020 and are now looking ahead to their future as their family grows with the new home.

Namrik said: “A detached property has given us the extra space we wanted and the three large bedrooms have allowed for the flexibility required to hopefully start a family in the future.

“We wanted a new build home because it would be ready to move in straight away, with less maintenance and fixing up required.

“To save up for our first home, we ensured we were strict with monthly expenses, monitored all expenditure and made sure we were getting the best deals on cars, mobile phones and holidays.”

Namrik and Rian, from Wallingford and Southampton originally, purchased a Hadley style home; a three bedroom detached property which is designed to suit first time buyers, growing families and downsizers alike.

In addition to Help to Buy, the couple were able to make the most of David Wilson Homes’ now-ceased NHS deposit contribution scheme, which provided key workers with a 5% deposit contribution of up to £15,000 as a thank you during the COVID-19 crisis.

Namrik continued: “The contributions we received via Help to Buy and the NHS deposit contribution scheme were very helpful with the overall cost and affordability of our new home.

“Everyone at David Wilson Homes has been accommodating throughout the entire process. We’ve been made to feel very welcomed and comfortable in our new home.

“Our neighbours are also friendly and welcoming, and there’s a diverse mix of people from all background and a strong community spirit.”

Among the most appealing features of Dida Gardens, Namrik and Rian noted the local area being quiet with plenty of open spaces, in addition to the wide range of restaurants and shopping amenities in close proximity.

They have also managed to stay close to their families and found the transport links available useful for their commutes to work.

Rob Allen, Sales Director at David Wilson Homes Southern, said: “We’re happy to hear Namrik and Rian have settled in well and are enjoying their married life at Dida Gardens.

“This flourishing community has become a sought-after destination since it launched, particularly among first time buyers.”

There is currently a selection of four and five bedroom properties available at Dida Gardens with prices starting from £525,000.
