North Kensington Community Energy is selling shares in the Solar Panels on the Westway Sports Centre
North Kensington Community Energy (NKCE) is the first energy cooperative in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.
NKCE is an award-winning organisation, bringing community-owned solar panels to Kensington and Chelsea. Our projects have three simple steps:
- People invest money to purchase solar panels.
- We install solar panels and sell clean, renewable electricity.
- We repay our investors with interest and create a Community Fund to support local projects.
We’ve done this before – last year we installed 86 kilowatts of solar panels on two schools and a community centre in the borough. We’ve now installed another 138 kilowatts of solar panels on the Westway sports centre. These will save 28 tonnes of carbon dioxide a year – as much as a forest of almost 3000 trees! They will also raise £42,000 for local causes over their lifetime and generate a 3% annual return on investment for all investors. We’re now inviting everyone to invest in these solar panels, which will be owned by the community. Please see the attached flyer for more information.
What you can do?
We want everyone in Kensington and Chelsea and London to know about these solar panels and the opportunity to invest in them! Please can you let people within your networks know and help us spread the word across the borough, and across London?
We also encourage local residents who aren’t able to invest to join NKCE via a £1 membership. All members have an equal say and vote in the running of NKCE.
Be part of NKCE’s ground-breaking work in creating locally funded solar power which tackles climate change, supports local causes, and makes money.
