Opa! Plate Smashing Ceremony Comes to HERA Stratford

HERA, the luxurious Greek restaurant and cocktail bar in Stratford, which is rapidly becoming East London’s must-visit Greek food destination, is introducing the iconic Greek plate-smashing into their monthly Greek Night festivities – launching on Friday 30 May. Opa!

Expect an evening full of eating, drinking and dancing, reminiscent of the hedonistic celebrations of ancient Greece. Indulge in their new Greek Night set menu for £68 per person, including a drink on arrival, four courses, and of course, a plate to smash. Starters include traditional breads and dips, like sourdough, pita and crostini to dunk in Tzatziki and Hummus, and feast on starters like a Greek Salad, Beetroot Salad with salt baked beetroot, radish, pecans, yoghurt and lemon dressing, or the iconic Feta Saganaki: Feta cheese, wrapped in crispy angel hair and drizzled in lemon honey. The mains will transport you straight to the Mediterranean: Grilled Seabass with lemon oil, Charcoal Chicken Skewer marinated in honey mustard, classic Moussaka, and the all new Prawns Saganaki, flambeed with ouzo, tomato sauce and feta. Finish off your feast with Loukoumadeswith white chocolate mousse, or Greek Yoghurt with a cherry spoon sweet and basil oil.

Of course, the star of the show (and included in the price) is the all-new Plate Smashing Ceremony, where guests will gather in the new garden, to smash their plates on the special word: ‘Opa!’

The evening is complete with Greek goddess-themed dancers, a live band bringing the rhythms of Greece to East London, and a bespoke cocktail on arrival, with a choice from HERA’s signature cocktail list, including Muses Kiss (rum, coconut, chocolate, pineapple, almond and milk), Helen of Spice (tequila, chilli mix, mango and agave), Karpouzi Island (vodka, melon mix, mint and lime) and many more.
