OTTOLENGHI Launches New Products into Waitrose Stores Across London
Yotam Ottolenghi and the Ottolenghi Test Kitchen team are launching three new products to their popular ingredients, sauces and spices range at Waitrose.
The range includes a Pilpelchuma sauce, a Libyan Jewish sauce that Yotam has coined the next Harissa, a Sticky Date & Tamarind Sauce and a Roasted Aubergine & Tomato Sauce.
The Ottolenghi range first launched in April this year (2024) with nine products, including a pasta sauce, a Rose & Lemon Harissa, a Shawarma Marinade, a Miso Pesto and blended herbs and spices and was Ottolenghi’s first venture onto supermarket shelves. The range outperformed Waitrose expectations and has been a popular shopping basket staple for customers ever since.
The Ottolenghi team spent years developing the range to ensure the products meet Ottolenghi’s high quality standards, while also being simple to use to deliver showstopping and flavourful dishes at home for family and friends.
The new additions to the range includes:
Pilpelchuma
A smoky and spicy Libyan chilli paste that is a blend of roasted red peppers, garlic, cumin and a fiery hit of chilli. Add a spoonful whenever your dish needs a kick. It’s ideal for enriching sauces and stews, or as a quick coating when roasting vegetables or marinating meat, fish or grilled vegetables. One spoonful, and you’ll wonder how you ever cooked without it.

Sticky Date & Tamarind Sauce
This is HP sauce, Ottolenghi style. Sweet, tangy and piquant this rich blend of tamarind, dates, ginger and soy works perfectly on a bacon sandwich, for adding depth to stews, or as a base for a salad dressing. Dates bring the sweetness, tamarind adds the tang.

Roasted Aubergine & Tomato Sauce
This rich, smoky sauce makes weeknight cooking a little easier. Packed with charred aubergine, ripe tomatoes, and garlic, use it wherever you would a traditional tomato sauce. Toss it with pasta, layer it in a lasagne, or use in a moussaka. Add a sprinkle of feta or some fresh herbs, and dinner is sorted or alternatively simply baked with eggs for a delicious breakfast.
