Piccadilly’s Legendary Hotel Doorman Wished Well by Mind’s President, Stephen Fry, Ahead of Charity Challenge

Paul Rush, doorman at Piccadilly’s iconic hotel, The Dilly, has received a message of support from British actor and President of Mind charity, Stephen Fry, ahead of embarking on an exciting challenge this month to raise funds for the mental health charity.

On Thursday 20th June, Paul will set out on a 36-hour-challenge, leaving his base at The Dilly at 7am, where he’ll have 36 hours to travel as far as possible without spending any money.

Those who donate will be encouraged to estimate how many miles Paul will be able to travel in the short time frame, and those who guess correctly will be in with the chance of winning a fantastic range of prizes donated by The Dilly, including a one-night stay at the hotel for two, Champagne Afternoon Tea for four in the hotel’s elegant Terrace at The Dilly, a £250 Cordings of Mayfair voucher, a Fortnum and Mason hamper and much more.

So far, Paul has exceeded his donation target of £1,000, with £1,182 raised to date in support of Mind.

Paul Rush, Doorman at The Dilly, comments, “Stephen often passes by the hotel and always takes the time for a quick chat. After learning about the challenge for a cause so close to his heart, he popped by the hotel to record a message wishing me well and encouraging others to support. It was very kind of him to give up his time and it has given me a real incentive to cover as many miles as I can!”

Daniel Loosley, General Manager of The Dilly comments, “June is our charity month for The Dilly, and we have many activities taking place to support our nominated charity, Mind. Paul has grasped this challenge with both hands and wants to raise as much as he can for a cause close to his heart, and the great news is that the company will match fund everything that is raised. We wish him the very best of luck!”
