Pimloc has seen off strong competition from a raft of tech startups to be named London Tech Innovator as part of KPMG’s bid to crown the UK’s most exciting tech businesses.
The company, which uses advanced AI to help organisations with visual privacy and security, was named London Tech Innovator after coming out on top following a successful pitch alongside the best tech offerings in the region.
Tech Innovator in the UK, now in its 13th year, aims to find the best and brightest tech scale-ups that are lighting up the UK. The competition gives a platform for entrepreneurs to showcase their businesses and collectively champion the future of tech.
Simon Randall, from Pimloc, said: “Winning the London heat in such a competitive tech ecosystem is a proud moment for the whole Pimloc team, but it’s only the beginning.
“The world is generating vast amounts of sensitive data that organisations struggle to protect and use. We do both. One platform, one standard of accountability, wherever the data goes.”
The competition, which has been running since 2013, has celebrated some of the UK’s best pure technology and tech-enabled businesses including What3Words, VividQ and HiiROC who have all been crowned previous winners. 2022 winner HiiROC took it a step further by winning the global final at Web Summit.
Regional winners this year progressed to the national final to be crowned the overall UK champion, with the winner to go on to represent the UK at the KPMG Global Tech Innovator Competition later this year.
Commenting on the regional heat, Anna Purchas, London Office Senior Partner at KPMG UK, said: “Huge congratulations to Pimloc on being named London Tech Innovator, this is exactly the kind of company that puts London on the map as one of the world’s leading technology hubs. They are tackling growing challenges around privacy and security with AI, ultimately helping to make people safer and organisations more compliant.
“The competition was fierce and once again put the spotlight on the strength of the UK tech sector and the transformative potential of AI.”
Last year, Midlands-based Inicio AI beat hundreds of aspiring UK tech firms to win with its use of artificial intelligence to improve how organisations assess customer affordability, initially for those in financial difficulty but now expanding into wealth management.
Nicole Lowe, Head of Emerging Giants at KPMG UK, said: “Every year the standard on show in Tech Innovator in the UK continues to reach new levels and it is amazing to see an amazing range of exciting tech businesses from across the country.
“UK Tech Innovator allows us to shine a spotlight on companies from across the country who are going above and beyond to make waves and help put the UK on the map and attractive to investment.
“I cannot wait to follow the exciting journeys of businesses already making noise in the industry at the same time as uncovering some hidden gems just waiting to break through.”
