Pocket Storage Takes Over 25,000 Sq Ft of London’s Iconic Railway Arches for High-Tech London Bridge Hub

Pocket Storage, the UK-based vertically integrated owner and operator of self-storage properties, in partnership with Forum Partners, a leading global real estate investment and asset management firm, has commenced construction of a new 25,000 sq ft technology-enabled self-storage facility in London Bridge, Central London, scheduled to open in February 2027.

Located across seven contiguous railway arches on Wardens Grove (SE1), the new hub marks a significant expansion of Pocket Storage’s ultra-urban strategy. Positioned just a 10-minute walk from London Bridge station and five minutes from Borough and Southwark underground stations and moments from Borough Market, the site sits at the heart of one of London’s most densely populated residential and commercial districts.

Solving Central London’s “Storage Desert”
Despite more than 132,000 businesses operating within a 15-minute drive, the Borough and Southwark area faces a chronic undersupply of modern, centrally located self-storage. Pocket Storage’s new facility will deliver approximately 385 individual units which will be delivered in two phases, ranging from 10 to 1000 sq ft, designed to serve both SMEs and residents in high-density developments where space is at a premium.

By combining proprietary booking and site access software with a real estate strategy focused on repurposing overlooked infrastructure, Pocket is able to overcome traditional barriers to operating self-storage in dense urban environments, including limited space, high staffing costs and inefficient layouts, while delivering a seamless, automated customer experience.

Max Wilson, Co-Founder of Pocket Storage, said:
“Central London continues to experience a structural shortage of well-located self-storage. By repurposing underutilised railway arches in London Bridge, we’re bringing high-quality, technology-enabled storage directly into one of the capital’s busiest commercial and residential hubs. Our automated operating model allows us to offer competitive pricing while maintaining a seamless, best-in-class customer experience.”

Louis Arron, Co-Founder of Pocket Storage, added:
“This project exemplifies our approach, unlocking overlooked urban spaces and transforming them into high-performing, flexible storage assets. Railway arches are well suited to our model: centrally located, structurally resilient and embedded within thriving communities. Working with The Arch Company has been a positive experience, with a collaborative approach that has helped us bring this project forward. Our London Bridge facility represents an important milestone as we continue scaling our platform across space-constrained city centres.”

The new space forms part of The Arch Company’s wider work to invest in creating high-quality, adaptable spaces for businesses across London.

Adam Hanline, Head of Leasing at The Arch Company, said:
“Our investment in these seven arches has created high-quality, centrally located commercial space where businesses can grow. We’re delighted to welcome Pocket Storage to London Bridge and their new facility is a great example of how railway arches can provide flexible, adaptable space for London’s makers, doers and entrepreneurs.”
