Princess Superstar releases David Guetta remix of Perfect (Exceeder) - London TV

Princess Superstar releases David Guetta remix of Perfect (Exceeder)

Electro goddess and influential rap stalwart Princess Superstar is in the middle of a surprise resurgence. She’s currently enjoy a fresh wave of discovery after her track ‘Perfect (Exceeder)’ – a #3 hit in 2007 made in collaboration with the Dutch producer Mason – featured in the multiple BAFTA and Golden Globe-nominated ‘Saltburn’. Soundtracking the pivotal party scene just as the film begins to take an even darker turn, the track went viral on TikTok with 50 million creations to date. That translated into a big audience, hitting Spotify’s Viral 50 in 46 countries (and #16 on the global chart), and exceeding 55 million streams as it returned to the UK Top 30 for the first time in seventeen years.

Now Princess Superstar continues to keep a new era of fans under the ‘Perfect (Exceeder)’ spell as she shares a brand new remix by the iconic superstar DJ and producer David Guetta.

David Guetta’s remix provides a 2024 twist on the original’s late-noughties decadence, bringing a thrilling contemporary house energy and rigging up dynamite drops to bring a new edge to Mason’s original production. As ever, Princess Superstar brings the star quality, her topline overflowing with the charisma, braggadocio and unrestrained raunch that she’s renowned for.

Princess Superstar says, “I’m so grateful for this unexpected bit of divine wind, and am super excited for this next chapter in my life as an artist. David Guetta is a powerhouse in the dance music scene, and I believe I speak for both Mason and myself when I express the honour we feel that he chose to contribute to the track. The revamped version is undeniably epic!”
David Guetta adds, “Mason and Princess Superstar created something so special with the original; there is no surprise that it is gaining such momentum all over again. I’m so humbled to collaborate with both artists to elevate the track into a new realm while preserving the timeless essence of the original.”

And Mason states, “I am humbled to be sharing this moment with Princess Superstar and now with David Guetta. It truly is an honour!”

The David Guetta remix adds a new chapter to the labyrinthian story of ‘Perfect (Exceeder)’. In 2005, the song ‘Perfect’ was a highlight of Princess Superstar’s cult classic album ‘My Machine’ while the following year saw Mason achieve a clubland breakthrough with ‘Exceeder’. Yet when they were mashed up together, the two tracks become bigger than the sum of their parts as it raced to #3 in the UK and climbed charts across Europe. Now enjoying a new lease of life after ‘Saltburn’, the track is also bigger than ever in the States having reached the Top 10 of the Billboard Hot Dance / Electronica Songs chart for the first time. This remix is the second in the track’s new era after drum & bass artist 1991 provided a new spin on the original when he dropped his version last month.

Princess Superstar’s first major breakthrough moment came in 2002 with the UK #11 hit ‘Bad Babysitter’. Her artistry has continued over the course of seven studio albums, her larger-than-life talents leading to features with big names as varied as The Prodigy, Moby and Grandmaster Flash as well as more unconventional collabs with Amy Schumer and Margaret Cho. She still tours relentlessly, both as an artist and DJ, with shows stretching from Coachella to Fuji Rock in Japan.

This is the second time that Princess Superstar has gone viral in a major way. Last summer saw Dojo Cat lip sync to her track ‘Famous’, resulting in 8 million video views and international editorial coverage. She also has another major claim to fame: she was a mentor and regular collaborator to a then-unknown Lana Del Rey.
