Record-Breaking EPQ Results at DLD College London
DLD College London is celebrating its best ever set of Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) results, with 100% of students in this year’s all-female programme cohort securing the coveted top grades of A* – A.
Highly-valued by leading universities and employers, the EPQ programme is a prestigious research-based external qualification. The course provides students with the invaluable opportunity to enhance their university applications with extra UCAS points, while also demonstrating that they can stretch and challenge themselves beyond the confines of the A Level syllabus.
Each member of the record-breaking EPQ group at the multi-award-winning school researched science-related topics for their qualification – including challenging and insightful subjects such as the pharmaceutical treatment of depression, aeronautical warfare, human psychopathy, and the impact of stress on mental health. The students handled the weighty topics with great skill and care, combined with the use of quantitative and qualitative methods to support their arguments and conclusions.
The EPQ allows committed students to design and plan their own research project and carry this out independently with limited hands-on guidance from supervisors. This year’s remarkable results demonstrate the value of the project as an extension activity for students to develop as advanced learners.
Irfan Latif, Principal at DLD College London commented, “We are incredibly proud of our EPQ students for their hard work and commitment; 100% A*-A is an outstanding set of results, which beats all records for the EPQ at DLD College London.”
Dr Daniel Woodley, Head of Universities and Careers added, “The students have done an exceptional job and should all be very proud of themselves – particularly for sticking with and completing their projects, despite all the obstacles to conducting research and the limitations on face-to-face supervision during the pandemic.
“While assessing their work I was extremely impressed by the range and scope of their reading, which gave their dissertations enormous depth and relevance.”
