Revealed: Best days and times to pass your driving test in the UK
As of last month, driving tests are back on the move in the UK. But, when should budding drivers look to take their test?
Greeting cards company, thortful.com recently polled* UK drivers that have passed their test in the last five years to determine the best days and times to pass. Having analysed the findings, thortful can unveil that Wednesday aka “hump day” is the day you’re most likely to pass with flying colours.
So, for those looking to book their test, they might want to consider booking a slot on the following days:
- Wednesday (19%)
- Tuesday (18%)
- Thursday (17%)
And, the top three times to book are as followed:
- 10-11 am (26%)
- 9-10 am (17%)
- 11-12 pm (12%)
Driving instructor of 13 years and owner of Parrys Fleet Services, John Parry offers three handy tips to help people best prepare for their driving test:
Practice:
It’s recommended that you mix lessons with a qualified ADI and also with family or friends. But make sure you are insured on their vehicle and they are eligible to teach you. Do get as much practice as possible because that way, you will know you are ready to take your test as you’ll be able to get from one place to another without help, only direction.
Keep calm:
If you make a mistake, it may not be as bad as you think, so it is best to just keep your focus and forget what you have just done and keep up with your driving. People often panic and assume they have instantly failed which causes them to make further mistakes. So, the calmer you stay, the better.
Be prepared:
Be prepared, but not only with the practical side of the test. Have your licence ready and place it in the vehicle where you and your instructor can see it, so you know you have what is required when you arrive at the test centre and you’re not adding extra panic by looking for your licence. Another tip is to have a bottle of water, so if you feel you need it, you can ask to stop and take a drink. You will also be asked to park up a few times whilst on your test, so use this time to take a few deep breaths and prepare yourself for the next step of your test.
