Revealed: Tom Hiddleston named fan’s favourite Marvel actor

Loki star Tom Hiddleston has been named the world’s favourite Marvel actor, based on a sentiment analysis of tweets around Marvel actors/actresses over the last year.

The research, conducted as part of the Self-Made Celebs study, showed that Tom Hiddleston has seen the highest influx of positive Tweets over the last year, compared to any other male actor who has starred in a Marvel film or series.

The Twitter sentiment analysis was conducted on Tweets mentioning any Marvel actor/actress over the last year, and assigns a positivity and negativity score to each.

Tom Hiddleston has seen the highest influx of fan support than any other male actor, following the first series of the smash series Loki, which has already been renewed for a second season thanks to its popularity among fans.

This places him as the firm favourite above other popular actors, including Iron Man’s Robert Downey Jr, who came 7thin the male list, and Captain America’s Chris Evans (third place).

Most popular Marvel actors, based on fan support

1- Tom Hiddleston

2 – Benedict Cumberbatch

3 – Chris Evans

4 – Sebastian Stan

5 – Paul Bettany

6 – Samuel L Jackson

7 – Robert Downey Jr

8 – Don Cheadle

9 – Chris Hemsworth

10 – Tom Holland

Interestingly, Doctor Strange’s Benedict Cumberbatch ranked third in the analysis, while it’s Guardian of the Galaxy’s Chris Pratt (Star Lord) who has seen the least support from fans on Twitter over the last year.

Fans will be looking forward to seeing the two share a screen in the upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness flick, which is set to hit screens in March next year.

When it comes to the popularity of Marvel stars overall, it was WandaVision star Elizabeth Olsen that proved the fan favourite – beating Loki in the overall ranking – suggesting that fans are more likely to love a character if they have a breakout series on Disney+.

Peter Bennett, Head of Brand Marketing at fair casino PlayOJO, comments on the analysis: “Although it’s clear that all the stars featured in the analysis are hugely supported by Marvel fans online, it is interesting to see how online sentiment varies from person to person.

“It’s also encouraging to see that the majority of interactions around the stars on Twitter are positive – particularly given the volatile nature of online forums.”

Other actors/actresses included in the analysis were Anthony Mackie, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, and Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman.
