The Krays – Dead Man Walking continues the predictable trend of using ex-Eastenders actors in straight to DVD gangster films but you have to give it an A for effort.

Rita Simons’ is a cut above the usual soap actors and steals the film as a tart with a heart and the film-makers try to do something different with the material.

Its cheap and cheerful (more leg end than Legend) but it’s a diverting time-waster with a surprisingly decent cast and a cut above the usual Brit genre fodder.
