Rhymes on the river – personalised poetry on board Thames Clippers this World Poetry Day
Fancy a poem written especially for you? Or perhaps for a loved one (conveniently ahead of Mother’s Day)? Take to the river with Thames Clippers on World Poetry Day (21 March) and be treated to your very own personalised poem written, delivered and wrapped to take home with you.
Thames Clippers and Team London Bridge have joined forces with The Poetry Takeaway, offering guaranteed fun, laughter and everything in between with on-board ‘poet chefs’. Tailored rhymes will be inspired by the iconic views from the river for those gliding through the capital.
This experience is included in the standard ticket price, from £4.50 for an adult single ticket. Poetry fans can enjoy their very own verse on Saturday 21 March by joining Thames Clippers’ RB1 sailings on board the ‘Poetry Clipper’, travelling both east and westbound between London Eye (Waterloo) Pier and North Greenwich Pier, calling at London Bridge City Pier four times. The first sailing will depart London Bridge City Pier at 10.58 (RB1 Eastbound), with the poets packing up their pens at London Eye (Waterloo) Pier at 15.04. Adults can touch in and out with Oyster or contactless, to pay as you go at any pier along the route. Alternatively, make the most of a Thames Clippers River Roamer ticket, for an all-day hop-on hop-off adventure through the capital from £17.80 per adult or £35.60 for a family of five (two adults and three children aged 5-15 years) when bought online.
Personalised poetry will be included in the regular price of travel but offered on a first come, first served basis. For more information on the scheduled Poetry Takeaway sailings, please visit thamesclippers.com/poetsonboats. Live updates will be posted on Twitter on the day regarding the location of the poets; follow @ThamesClippers.
Visitors to London Bridge on World Poetry Day will also be treated to free live poetry performances at London Bridge Station, 12.00-13.00 and 14.00-15.00.
