ROH announces more, free full-length productions available online

The Royal Opera House is proud to continue its curated #OurHouseToYourHouse programme featuring free online broadcasts, musical masterclasses and cultural highlights that audiences can access for free anywhere, anytime.

Today we are thrilled to announce that we will be making available four new works in our series of free weekly production broadcasts available on Facebook and YouTube every Friday at 7pm:

The Cellist, The Royal Ballet, 2020 – 29 May, 7pm BST
Il trittico The Royal Opera, 2012 – 5 June, 7pm BST
La Fille mal gardée, The Royal Ballet, 2005 – 12 June, 7pm BST
The Magic Flute, The Royal Opera, 2017 – 19 June, 7pm BST

The Royal Ballet’s The Cellist is choreographed by Cathy Marston, inspired by the momentous life and career of celebrated cellist Jacqueline du Pré and set to a commissioned score by Philip Feeney. Puccini’s Il trittico, a collection of three one-act operas is conducted by Antonio Pappano alongside an acclaimed cast including Eva-Maria Westbroek and Ermonela Jaho. This is followed by Frederick Ashtons’s La Fille mal gardée from The Royal Ballet, starring Carlos Acosta and Marianela Nuñez and The Royal Opera’s spell-binding production of Mozart’s glorious opera The Magic Flute with a wonderful cast including Roderick Williams as Papageno.

Our virtual classroom for families across the globe this week presents Forces of Nature and invites children and young people to create their own theatrical snow machine for their model theatre. Take a look at how to create your own version here.

Royal Opera House content continues to be available through our ongoing partnership with the BBC. The Royal Opera’s performances of Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor (2016) will be broadcast on BBC Radio 3 on Thursday 21 May as part of the opera matinee series. This will be followed by Dvorak’s Rusalka (2012) on Thursday 18 June, Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin (2013) on Thursday 25 June and Rossini’s The Barber of Seville (2016) on Thursday 9 July.

Also currently available on BBC iPlayer is the film Romeo and Juliet: Beyond Words, a creative reimagining of Kenneth MacMillan’s seminal ballet, produced and directed by multiple award-winning Michael Nunn and William Trevitt of BalletBoyz and featuring dancers of The Royal Ballet.
