ROOMS WITH A VIEW – HYATT PLACE LONDON CITY EAST OPENS IN THE HEART OF THE CAPITAL

Hyatt Place London City East, the first Hyatt Place hotel in Central London, opens today, bringing stylish interiors, expertly-curated street art and stunning City views to the cosmopolitan heart of East London.

Located just a few steps from Aldgate East station, this upscale hotel offers effortless access to the City of London, the iconic sights and delights of Brick Lane, Spitalfields plus the artistic streets and buzz of neighbouring Shoreditch. A smart choice for both leisure and business visitors, over 100 of the hotel’s 280 rooms have exceptional views across the capital, The Gherkin and Canary Wharf.

Thirteen of the bedrooms across the top two floors come with their own private outdoor terraces or balconies, delivering picture-postcard views of the world-famous London skyline. Some floors are designated pet-friendly, and all the cleverly-designed twin, double and king rooms feature a dedicated workspace, smart TV, free Wi-Fi and contemporary furniture. For families and groups visiting the hotel, some rooms include sofa beds to offer additional occupancy, while corner rooms can be configured to share a private entrance for additional privacy and space.

Bringing London’s street art inside

Hyatt Place London City East commissioned a series of London-based street artists to bring vitality and a true sense of place for guests. As a result, the hotel brims with one-off art pieces, local photography, and statement lighting, while rich tones and textured fabrics add further comfort and style.

On arrival, guests are welcomed by two abstract-style murals by Brixton-based abstract artist Olly Fathers. The Concord Art Prize finalist uses colourful, intricate geometrics to spray his bold East London-themed art across the reception walls.

London-based mural artist, Jay Kaes has brought one of the Zoom Restaurant feature walls to life with a striking spray-painted mural. With his global reputation for ‘art with personality’, his London Underground inspired design keeps true to his mission to create walls that talk while reflecting the neighbourhood’s colourful personality.

Meanwhile, those staying on the first-floor are treated to views of a multi-coloured mural spanning the entire outside wall space. Devised and painted by contemporary abstract artist Lothar Götz, the vibrant geometric design – which is 3 metres high and nearly 30 metres long – has been carefully composed to factor in the symmetry of the bedroom’s that overlook the artwork, giving each guest a unique perspective.

In celebration of the hotel’s vibrant community, expert art curators ARTIQ were engaged to integrate bespoke homegrown art throughout the hotel, from local landmarks and architectural teasers to famous faces and urban aesthetics.

Wining, dining, meetings and events

Pocketsquare Skyline Bar and Terrace is located on the 9th floor; this luxuriously decorated gin-led cocktail bar has a beautifully-furnished outside terrace with sensational views across the city. The flavoursome menu of petite dishes pair perfectly with the seasonal signature cocktails, each created by Bar Manager Kristian Smith with its own local story. A wonderful place to escape the commotion of London’s busy streets, the rooftop terrace and bar are also available for private hire.

Zoom is a casual, urban dining restaurant on the lower ground floor that opens out into The Orangery – a bright, conservatory featuring a lifelike lush green wall. Every evening Head Chef Norbert Olah uses responsibly-sourced ingredients to deliver a range of global dishes and comfort-food classics with a local twist. Next to the hotel’s reception area, The Market sells grab-and-go deli drinks and lunch items, and serves Starbucks coffee.

Guests also benefit from a fully-equipped, 24-hour fitness centre on the lower ground floor with Technogym equipment and a free weight area.

Commenting on the opening Michael Mason-Shaw, General Manager, Hyatt Place London City East, said:

“We’re excited to open the doors of London’s newest Hyatt hotel and offer guests a smart place to stay, meet and dine. Being located where the city meets the east, and an historic area poised for huge regeneration – including Whitechapel’s new Crossrail link – we’re confident that visitors staying with us will be best-placed to enjoy the capital.

“From London’s newest rooftop bar to rooms that capitalise on our central location and uninterrupted views, and from our stylish public spaces to bespoke art pieces, we’ve designed every aspect of Hyatt Place London City East to reflect this incredibly diverse and culturally-rich part of London. And, with so many attractions on our doorstep, it’s a privilege to be a new member of this community.
