Rosé on the Rise: The Ivy Collection Uncorks the UK’s Rosé Obsession Ahead of the Bank Holiday
As the Bank Holiday weekend approaches, The Ivy Collection is raising a glass to the UK’s growing love affair with rosé. Once a seasonal treat, the pale pink pour has blossomed into a year-round favourite, especially among younger drinkers who are sipping it with style.
New research from The Ivy Collection reveals that half of UK adults (50%) will enjoy rosé at least once this summer, with 62% of 18–34 year-olds leading the charge, compared to just 38% of those aged 55 and over. Whether it’s a garden party, a lazy lunch, or a quiet night in, rosé has become the go-to for relaxed sophistication.
London Leads the Rosé Revolution
Londoners are at the heart of the trend, with nearly a quarter (23%) enjoying rosé one to three times a month. Meanwhile, the South East takes a more reserved approach, with 25% sipping it less than once a month.
Social settings shape sipping habits:
Scots are most likely to enjoy rosé with family (47%)
Londoners prefer clinking glasses with friends (52%)
South Easterners favour sharing a bottle with their partner (45%)
As for the perfect spot to enjoy it? The garden tops the list (28%), followed by cosy indoor moments (16%) and alfresco dining on restaurant terraces (10%). And for those terrace-loving rose drinkers, The Ivy’s sun-soaked terraces are the ideal setting to sip in style.
What Makes the Perfect Pour?
When choosing a bottle, price is the top priority for 47% of wine drinkers, followed by brand (27%), grape variety (26%), and alcohol percentage (25%). Alcohol content sparks a generational divide: 38% of younger drinkers consider it key, while only 17% of older adults agree.
When it comes to colour, pale pink is the crowd favourite (37%), though blush (23%) and deep pink (18%) have their loyal fans. For 21%, colour doesn’t matter—if it’s rosé, it’s right. For those who choose their rose by the hue, The Ivy Collection’s shade selector makes it easy to find your perfect sip, whether you’re drawn to a delicate blush or something bolder and sparkling.
Ice, Ice… Maybe?
Ice remains a point of contention. Just 8% always add it, while 55% rarely or never do. Scots (55%) and South Easterners (43%) prefer their rosé chilled but ice-free, while Londoners (26%) are more likely to embrace a frosty glass.
Claudio Sammartino, Wine Educator and spokesperson for The Ivy Collection, comments:
