Rough Guide to Accessible Britain celebrates ‘A Daily Dose of Discovery’

NHS GP, presenter and author, Dr Radha Modgil, is encouraging disabled people and their families to enjoy ‘A Daily Dose of Discovery’ this summer. She has partnered with the new edition of the Rough Guide to Accessible Britain, which makes it easier than ever to plan inclusive days out and is available to read and download online for free, at www.accessibleguide.co.uk.

Dr Radha is passionate about how daily small and tangible, yet powerful, actions can support us to feel better mentally and emotionally. Research shows that getting out and about is vital to our mental health and wellbeing, in fact, Natural England advised that we each spend at least two hours a week outside in fresh air. Packed with over 200 reviews of attractions across the UK, the Rough Guide to Accessible Britain is an ideal planning tool to enjoy an inclusive day out.

With the pandemic restrictions now lifted, many members of the public are keen to get out and start exploring what Britain has to offer again, and the Rough Guide to Accessible Britain is focused on helping to plan just that. The refreshed, ninth edition of the Guide highlights venues that have gone the extra mile to make themselves accessible. Encouraging people to discover the best parts of the UK, the detailed reviews in the Guide are designed to empower anyone with a physical, mental health or cognitive condition to enjoy an accessible day out.

“I’m excited to be supporting this new edition of the Rough Guide to Accessible Britain. It is widely recognised, that being outdoors and in nature is vital to our wellbeing and can help combat loneliness, depression, and anxiety. We’re encouraging A Daily Dose of Discovery, helping people to get out and explore accessible attractions in the UK, that will in turn have a positive effect on their mental and emotional wellbeing.” says Dr Radha Modgil. “There is such a variety of venues listed in the guide and so much useful information. The summer is looking like a fun one.”

The Rough Guide to Accessible Britain has been created in partnership with Motability Operations Ltd, the company who owns and operates the Motability Scheme. Motability Scheme customers use their cars, scooters and powered wheelchairs to enable increased independence and the Guide supports the ethos of empowering people with diverse needs to live life to the full.
