RSPCA appeal after dead dog found in suitcase on Barnet bridleway

The badly decomposed body of a bulldog has been found inside a red suitcase and dumped in a ditch on a public bridleway in Barnet, London.

The grim discovery was made on 9 August on Arkley Lane by a member of the public, who called the RSPCA.
Animal Rescue Officer Georgina Parsons is investigating, she said: “This is an extremely distressing discovery on a public right of way. The dog – a bully type breed – was in an advanced state of decomposition and appeared severely emaciated.
“The head was protruding from the suitcase, with visible decomposition around the eyes and muzzle.
“The animal had no collar or tags, and a check for a microchip proved unsuccessful. Only two blankets were found alongside the dog inside the case.
“We’re asking anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area, or who has any information about this discovery to contact us.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact the RSPCA inspectorate appeal line on 0300 123 8018 quoting reference number 1600887.
