Rugby team receives TG Lynes sponsorship boost

A South London women’s rugby team are getting ready to test themselves against their Welsh counterparts – after TG Lynes stepped in with a sponsorship boost.

Heating, plumbing and air movement materials supplier TG Lynes has agreed to sponsor the ladies’ team of Streatham-Croydon RFC on their May tour of Cardiff.

The sponsorship forms part of TG Lynes’ International Women’s Day celebrations and has been made in conjunction with one of its customers, Gloster.

The business’ logo will adorn the back of the Streatham-Croydon shirts as they vie for glory across the border.

Rebecca Byrom, of the club’s tour committee, said: “We are thrilled to receive this generous sponsorship from TG Lynes.”

“Our women’s side has grown year on year since its inception six years ago and everyone is really looking forward to the tour of Cardiff, where we will take on a local Welsh team.

“Women’s rugby is one of the fastest growing sports in the UK, and it’s great that TG Lynes is supporting its progress by getting involved.”

A touring party of 28 players is due to go on the tour where they will also attend a Women’s 6 Nations fixture at Principality Stadium.

The club has two senior men’s teams and a growing youth section. It has strong links with the local community and works in close partnership with many surrounding groups, including Croydon Voluntary Action.

Laura Janaway, Marketing Manager at TG Lynes, said: “We’re delighted to be able to support Streatham-Croydon.”

“It’s a fantastic rugby club with a growing women’s section. As a business, diversity and sustainability are a core belief and we’re pleased to help these women enjoy the sport of rugby.”

TG Lynes stocks industry leading brands and supplies thousands of products including valves, steel and copper tubes and fittings, press systems, composite and plastic plumbing, drainage solutions and support systems and tooling. An extensive plant hire service is also available.

The business is this year celebrating its 110th anniversary.
