Small business owners offered green growth skills in great outdoors
Business owners from across London will have the opportunity to grow their sustainability skills and connect with like-minded entrepreneurs at a themed ‘netwalking’ event hosted by Small Business Britain and BT next month.
Small business owners are invited to come together in Regents Park for a one-hour ‘Netwalk’ on 7 May, where they will hear practical tips from sustainability experts and innovative small businesses that are putting sustainability at the heart of their operations.
Netwalks provide a relaxed networking opportunity to help entrepreneurs build valuable connections in an informal, outdoor setting.
“With SMEs accounting for half of all UK business emissions, small businesses have a key role in sustainability. This is not just about protecting the planet, but unlocking financial opportunity and building resilient, future-ready businesses,” said Michelle Ovens CBE, Founder of Small Business Britain.
“We’re thrilled to be partnering with BT once again for this inspiring Netwalk, bringing together business owners to connect, learn from each other, and explore how sustainable thinking can drive innovation and growth—all while stepping away from the daily grind to enjoy the fresh air and some great company.”
Chris Sims, Chief Commercial Officer, UK Business at BT, said: “NetWalks provide an invaluable opportunity for small businesses to come together, share ideas, and learn from one another in an inspiring outdoor setting. This time, with sustainability at the forefront, we’re excited to help entrepreneurs explore how embracing eco-friendly practices can not only benefit the environment but also drive business innovation, efficiency, and growth in a rapidly changing market.”
This Netwalk follows other similar netwalking events hosted by Small Business Britain and BT across the country, including in York, Glasgow, Nottingham, Leeds and Bristol.
It builds on wider work from Small Business Britain and BT to support small businesses on their sustainability journeys. Both organisations play a key role in The Willow Review – a new independent Review aiming to underline the financial case for sustainability for small businesses, which is backed by the UK Government and due to publish its final report in June.
In March, BT and Small Business Britain also partnered on the inaugural Green Growth Awards, a new competition which showcased UK entrepreneurs pioneering sustainable growth and awarded two £5,000 winners grants.
The forthcoming London Netwalk will take place on Wednesday 7 May and will finish with refreshments at BloomsYard in Regents Place. It is open to all small business owners and they can also bring along their children and dogs.
