IN THE UK
In recent years Soho Theatre has worked with some of the biggest and best Indian talent, producing shows in London, at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and on tour with the likes of Aditi Mittal, Vir Das, Anuvab Pal, Kanan Gill, Zakir Khan and more. Mentalist Suhani Shah has just finished a successful run at Soho Theatre’s Dean Street base and Daniel Fernandes will perform in August, with more exciting names to be announced very soon. Soho Theatre are looking to expand and build on their relationship with Indian artists and audiences through these upcoming shows.
IN THE FUTURE
Soho Theatre are creating a partnership with G5A to employ a Mumbai-based Comedy Producer. Working out of G5A for most of the year, this exciting role will be based at G5A in Mumbai and travel to the UK as part of the Soho Theatre team working on live comedy shows in London and at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. A key part of Soho Theatre’s commitment to championing new Indian live comedy, the Comedy Producer will help Soho Theatre take more live shows to India and bring the best Indian comedians to audiences in Soho and, from 2023, in the 1,000-seater Soho Theatre Walthamstow in East London.
‘With a full programme in Soho Theatre in the West End, and looking forward to the 2023 opening of the 1,000 capacity Soho Theatre Walthamstow in East London, we’re delighted to be building our partnership with G5A. The new role of Comedy Producer (Soho Theatre) working from G5A will enable us to present more comedy in Mumbai and Indian performers in London – next up the brilliant Nina Conti at G5A in May, and the very welcome return of Daniel Fernandes at Soho Theatre this August.’
