Sounds of the 80s: The Live Tour 2024 announced – Gary Davies brings his BBC Radio 2 show to life for tour dates across the UK

Following triumphant 2023 dates, Gary Davies has announced a nationwide 2024 tour for the electrifying live version of his BBC Radio 2 show, Sounds of the 80s.

Earlier this year he wowed audiences across the country bringing his iconic Saturday night radio show to life for the ultimate 80s extravaganza, and he recently brought it to the stage performing to thousands at BBC Radio 2 in the Park in Leicester.

BBC Radio 2 Sounds of the 80s: The Live Tour sees Gary and his producer Johnny Kalifornia bring the party in their 80s radio studio set; along with Gary’s gang of Sounds of the 80s dancers, mastermixes featuring timeless hits, and special guest appearances from 80s stars.

Audiences were wowed by the live tour in 2023 and 2024 will be no different!

Everyone is encouraged to don their favourite 80s outfits, send in live shout outs ( it is a radio show, after all!), and groove away to the classic anthems all night long.

The celebration will showcase iconic 80s hits by artists such as Wham!, Queen, Prince, Madonna, Whitney, and more. Furthermore, some of the upcoming shows might even surprise the audience with guest appearances by notable figures from that era. Past editions of the show have featured celebrated artists such as Altered Images’ Clare Grogan, Frankie Goes To Hollywood’s Holly Johnson, T’pau’s Carol Decker, Five Stars’ Deneice Pearson, Jaki Graham, and Then Jericho’s Mark Shaw.

Gary Says:

“I’ve been so overwhelmed by the response and reaction to our initial BBC Radio 2 Sounds of the 80s Live Tour shows.

It’s been so much fun hosting them along with ‘Gary’s Gang’ our amazing dancers, my incredible producer Johnny Kalifornia and some fabulous live guests. Having received numerous requests for us to bring the show to more venues in the UK I’m delighted that we have a whole bunch of new dates for next year and look forward to partying with you 80s style .”

Gary Davies, the perfect host for Radio 2’s “Sounds of the 80s” (airing Saturday evenings at 8pm), reached the pinnacle of his career during those vibrant days when he graced the airwaves as a presenter on BBC Radio 1 and a fixture on “Top of the Pops.” It was during this time that he discovered and fervently supported many of the acts he now features on his program. Davies was a pioneer in offering mainstream recognition to artists like U2, Chris Rea, Deacon Blue, Tears For Fears, and Simple Minds. In many ways, Gary Davies and his show helped shape the musical landscape of the 80s in the UK.
