Greenwich is officially Londoners’ favourite hotspot according to trip data by multi-mobility app Freenow by Lyft, revealing a shift on where Londoners choose to spend their leisure time. There was a 27% year-on-year increase in taxi and private hire vehicle (PHV) trips to and from the South East London neighbourhood. Meanwhile, classic Shoreditch proved it still draws crowds, showing a 12% surge in popularity in the same period.

While historic and established central hubs remain dominant, such as Covent Garden (+5%) and the South Bank (+3%) proving steady increases, the real momentum is happening in the up-and-coming neighbourhoods of South and East London.

Beyond Greenwich’s continual rise, hubs in the East and South East are seeing significant growth. Trendy Peckham (+13%) and the area of Clapton (+12%) both recorded a double digit increase as people seek out decentralised social scenes. Deptford also continued its steady growth with an increase of over 7% in trip volume.

While some claimed central tourist hubs might be slowing down, classic destinations showed resilience such as Shoreditch and Notting Hill enjoyed an influx of visitors with over 6% growth.
