South Woodford’s Grand Trunk Road Appoint Iqbal Ahamad as Head Chef

Following a fully booked New Year’s Eve, Valentine’s Day and recent inclusion into the Michelin Guide 2022, South Woodford’s Grand Trunk Road are blazing into 2022 with the arrival of their newly appointed Head Chef, Iqbal Ahamad.

From a career beginning at Mumbai’s prestigious Marriott Hotel, Chef Ahamad’s work has travelled through a collection of beautiful establishments across his twenty-year career, including New Delhi’s Hilton, Buckinghamshire’s Spice Merchant, the legendary Red Fort in Soho and Edgware Road’s Pakhtoon.

Renowned for offering a deliciously classical menu that pairs ancient recipes with their traditional cooking methods, Grand Trunk Road continues to uphold its reputation for premium quality fare in elegant, warming surroundings. The multi-award-winning eatery has just launched a new brunch menu and was recently awarded as one of Harden’s Top 100 Best London and UK Restaurants 2021.

Chef Ahamad’s vivid uniqueness will make a flavoursome match with the inimitable Grand Trunk Road menu, where dishes include North Sea monk fish fillet, rubbed with a blend of ground spices & lemon, Double lamb chops marinated in fennel, star anise, raw papaya & crushed spices and Lobster cooked with black peppercorn, citrus, garlic & tomato masala.

Owner, Rajesh Suri, says: “Chef Ahamad is a wonderful new addition to our fold; his appointment as Head Chef marks a delicious new era for Grand Trunk Road and a wonderful way to begin the new year.”
