Specsavers Wallington celebrate 15 years serving the local community

NOVEMBER 5th 2022 marked a key date for the team at Specsavers Wallington, as they celebrated being open for 15 years. Other significant celebrations that were recognised were the one-year anniversary of Vinisha Cliff as Ophthalmic Director and 15 years as Retail Director, for Amber Rachyal-Bowler who has loyally supported and mentored the team, plus managed the day to day running of the business since day one!
Hosting the event on Guy Fawkes Day, traditionally known for its firework displays around the country, inspired the team, to create their own dazzling array of treats, celebratory cupcakes and 15-year Birthday cake. One lucky customer was given a pair of tailor-made varifocals with Thin and Light Reaction lenses, normally retailing at £320, whilst a further two customers received a 50% discount off their new prescriptive glasses.
It was a significant day for many of the team, as the memory of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 was still fresh in their minds, as most of the staff had been furloughed and everything was uncertain. So, it was even more poignant that the team were able to celebrate their collective achievement.
The store partners, Amber and Vinisha, organised a series of events, including an Awards evening where all Specsavers Wallington store colleagues were given a special thank you in the form of gift vouchers.
Tribute was also paid to Amber who has worked within the Specsavers Group for over twenty-two years. The team recognised her dedication to the business, with the presentation of a bouquet of flowers and a video of congratulatory messages from colleagues she has worked with during her Specsavers career.
Amber said; ‘I am truly thrilled and honoured to have such a wonderful group of professionals within our team, who are so supportive. I am very passionate about everyone being able to fulfil their potential. And with the Specsavers Career Pathway and in-store mentoring we can offer everyone the chance to progress.’
Continuing, Ms Rachal-Bowler commented; ‘We have developed a reputation amongst the local community of delivering first class clinical and customer service. I am very proud of our achievements. Let’s hope we have many more years of serving the community to come!’
Vinisha Cliff, Ophthalmic Director said; ‘I can’t believe that a year has literally whizzed by since my appointment as a store partner. Having worked with Amber and the team for over 12 years, I can personally vouch for the wonderful development opportunities on offer, and the mentoring that Amber offers us all. I would also like to say thank you to our loyal customers.’
Residents across Wallington can feel confident that they will receive the very best clinical and customer service. Having an eye test is very much a general health check, and with the latest diagnostic equipment on-site, such as the OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) 3D scan, which is advanced diagnostic, eye scanning equipment that helps detect several serious eye conditions, including glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy. It can detect eye conditions up to four years ahead of them presenting via a standard eye test.
Customers can also book to have their hearing tested, with one clinic per week, held each Tuesday. Specsavers recommend having a hearing test every two years for those aged over 55 years old and protecting your hearing with ear plugs when attending noisy, loud events such as rock concerts, live music, Formula One and fireworks displays.
