Spectacular light festival IlluminoCity returns to the City of London to welcome Christmas shoppers and visitors during the festive season
From 6 December 2021 to 19 January 2022, IlluminoCity will present a stunning display of light installations at London Wall Place, Citypoint and Principal Place.
Featuring a range of spectacular and thought-provoking works, IlluminoCity will encourage visitors to see the City of London in a new light – a perfect way to spend a cold winter’s night, exploring the streets of the Square Mile.
The light trail includes five installations by artists from five different countries:
London Wall Place, Barbican
All the Light You See by Alicia Eggert (USA)
Nest by Vikas Patil & Santosh Gujar (India)
Principal Place, Shoreditch
Singularity, Squidsoup (UK)
Citypoint, Moorgate
Two Lamps by Jeroen Henneman (Netherlands)
Butterfly Effect by Masamichi Shimada (Japan)
The works will animate the streets of the City of London as the capital emerges from the pandemic, encouraging visitors to enjoy the shops, restaurants and bars in the Square Mile in the run up to the Christmas holiday, and during the first weeks of the New Year.
Caitlin Warfield, Vice President, Marketing (UK) at Brookfield Properties, said: “As life continues to return to the streets of the Square Mile, these beautiful installations will brighten the dark winter nights. We hope that IlluminoCity encourages visitors to enjoy all the City has to offer – whether that’s a festive cocktail at the Light Bar in Principal Place, or a warming coffee and cake at Barbie Green at London Wall Place.”
