St Martin-in-the-Fields Ltd Appoints New Chief Executive Officer
St Martin-in-the-Fields Ltd has appointed a Chief Executive Officer, Chris Denton, to help the company achieve its ambitious plans for growth and resurgence following the pandemic.
Chris Denton is to become Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of St Martin-in-the-Fields Limited. Chris starts the new role in May 2021, after holding senior roles at such prestigious companies as the Southbank Centre, the Barbican Centre and the Philharmonia Orchestra. As a consultant, Chris has worked closely with many leading arts and cultural organisations across the UK and internationally, including Opera North, English National Ballet, the British Council and the West Kowloon Cultural District in Hong Kong.
Chris joins the organisation as it recovers from the pandemic. He will lead it as it reimagines its programme of concerts and events and its food, beverage and retail offer – and as it supports the wider mission and ministry of St Martin’s.
Revd Dr Sam Wells, Vicar of St Martin-in-the-Fields said,
“I am thrilled at the opportunity to work with Chris, and excited at the possibilities his appointment opens up as St Martin’s looks to join with the community in being part of London’s post-pandemic relaunch.”
Mark Bromley, Chair of St Martin-in-the-Fields Ltd commented,
“After such an unprecedented and challenging year, we are now looking to the future, rebuilding our organisation, and excited to be striving forward under the leadership of someone of Chris’s calibre.”
Chris Denton said,
“I am delighted to be joining St Martin-in-the-Fields. Through the delivery of a high quality and distinctive music and arts programme within the stunning setting of the church, the crypt and the site, and by re-imagining the cafe, retail and hospitality offer, I look forward to further enhancing St Martin’s reputation for musical excellence and entrepreneurial innovation – all with the aim of supporting the mission and ministry of the wider organisation.”
Over the last year St Martin-in-the-Fields has demonstrated its resilience and creativity, delivering concerts online, using livestreaming technology and also pivoting its retail operations to online platforms.
