Sustainably sourced high street eatery, Chop’d joins retail group
Chop’d, the locally sourced & sustainable high street eatery has been acquired by Inc Retail. The deal brings together Chop’d and recent acquisition, KNOMO, into the newly expanding retail group.
The group, set up to transform and redefine retail, now boasts two high street brands, both of which will be led by industry expert and Managing Director, Dan Shaw.
Boasting sustainability accolades and industry firsts, Chop’d was the first retailer to launch a UK manufactured 100% recycled salad bowl and additionally the first and only retailer to sell reusable salad bowls to date saving over 200,000 plastic bowls. A lunch-time favourite, Chop’d is popular with business professionals who opt for a fresh, locally sourced lunch.
Speaking of the acquisition, Managing Director for Inc Retail Group, Dan Shaw said; “Chop’d have a unique product offering which fits perfectly within the retail group and as a brand has always sourced 100% of its produce from the U.K, including having saved over 3.5 million plastic bags from going to waste since inception. This alone shows what a worthwhile cause Chop’d are, and I’m excited to have them join us as part of the Inc Retail offering.
Established in 2004, Chop’d has 13 stores, in Manchester, Leeds & London, all of which will stay open in the deal which will see the current team and brand continue to grow as all jobs will be kept in the share purchase.
Eddie Holmes, MD of Chop’d said about the acquisition, “The team and I are extremely excited to have this opportunity to reinvigorate Chop’d and allow us to bring our super healthy, tasty, sustainable food back to our faithful customers and to those yet to discover us. We just can’t wait to get started”.
Jack Mason, Group CEO of parent company, Inc & Co said; “We recently announced the purchase of retail brand KNOMO, and this purchase of Chop’d will bring yet another exciting and unique brand into Inc Retail Group, which will redefine what the high street means to all of us.
Being a customer of Chop’d has meant I have seen first hand the inspiring work the company has championed, and I’m looking forward to seeing Dan and his team grow the brand to new heights.”
As part of the acquisition, there will be significant investment in expanding the menu offering, website and back-end ordering systems which will breathe a fresh new life into the brand that consumers know and love.
