Sustainabuild, a sustainability-focused built environment network, is bringing its Breakfast Club to London for the first time at Heatherwick Studio, Kings Cross on Thursday 19th September.

Launching with the theme ‘Creating joyful, soulful, sustainable buildings and communities’, attendees will hear from expert speakers, including Lisa Finlay, Partner & Group Leader at Heatherwick Studio; Branwen Evans, Group Director of Sustainability and Policy at Places for People; and Joanna Yarrow, Chief Impact Officer at Human Nature.

Hosting Sustainabuild, Lisa Finlay, Partner and Group Leader at Heatherwick Studio, said: “Hosting at our home in London is an invitation for a wider conversation about the role sustainability should play in designing better buildings. We are proud to be part of this event, highlighting the opportunities to humanise the built environment, and discussing upcoming projects the Humanise Campaign is undertaking with housing developers.”

Lisa will talk about how designing for emotion and wellbeing can be the antidote to soulless and unloved buildings in our towns and cities, as set out in Thomas Heatherwick’s latest book ‘Humanise: A Maker’s Guide to Building our World.’

Branwen Evans, Group Director of Sustainability and Policy at Places for People, added: “I’m passionate about creating and nurturing places that enable people and the planet to thrive. The challenges we face – inequality, climate change, health and well-being – can be tackled by designing places that work holistically for the people who live in them.”

Sustainabuild was founded in Edinburgh in January 2024 with a mission to bring together professionals driving sustainability in the built environment and construction sector to offer them the knowledge and network they need to achieve their net zero goals.

Over the last six months, Sustainabuild has hosted events in Edinburgh, Dundee and Glasgow examining a range of crucial topics including the green skills gap, heat networks, sustainable building materials and retrofit.
