Button House in the pretty London suburb of Hackbridge – a Brio Retirement Living development – has announced it’s the first venue to home the artwork created by talented locals in the Sutton Parks Landscape Artist of the Year competition.

Boasting a gallery of 46 paintings created by artists who entered the Beddington Park arm of the competition, Button House is welcoming visitors to view the display which will be at the development until Wednesday 11 October when it moves on to its next location prior to being judged.

Hosted in summer 2023 and supported by funding from Arts Network Sutton, the competition was held over six park locations in Sutton. The 46 paintings on display at Button House were created in Beddington Park, which is located minutes from the Brio Retirement development, whilst other art-lovers entered at parks across Sutton including Poulter, Manor, Oaks, Rose Hill Park East and Carshalton Park.

The impressive pieces have already been judged in the first stage of the competition with winners and highly commended prizes of art vouchers and equipment in each of the three categories covering ages 3-10, 11–16-year-olds and an adult category. A final will be held in November when each park’s winners go head-to-head and three overall winners will receive £50 art vouchers, provided by sponsors LexisNexis Risk Solutions.

“It’s a joy to welcome both residents and locals keen to view the paintings and we’ve had lots of interest from the pupils at Hackbridge Primary School next door too – some of whom have grandparents living here in our development. It’s proved a really popular community project, and we wish all the winning entrants the very best of luck in the final!”

The Exhibition will be held at Button House from Thursday 28 September until Wednesday 11 October and open every day from 10:30 – 16:30. The overall final will take place at an exhibition in Sutton in November, with further details to be announced later this year.
