This November, it’s out with the old and in with the used! For one week, the atrium area at Livat Hammersmith will be transformed into an innovative community SwapRoom, allowing visitors to give their pre-loved items a new lease of life and uncover new hidden gems.

Whether picking a new winter wardrobe or finding the perfect christmas gift for a loved one, the innovative SwapRoom offers visitors the chance to reduce clutter and find new gems, all whilst cutting costs, reducing waste and minimising the impact on the planet. What’s more, it’s completely free!

● The Swaproom will include clothing, accessories, toys, packaged gifts and Christmas decorations.
● To participate, visitors simply need to bring up to six unwanted items to exchange for new goods.

● The event will operate on a first come, first served basis – so bring down those unwanted items early!

● All goods will also be checked for quality and exchanged for equivalents, so no one misses out.

The Swaproom will also feature a winter clothing donation, where we will be encouraging attendees to share in the spirit of giving. All donations and leftover SwapRoom items will be going to West London Welcome – a community centre in Hammersmith run for and with refugees, migrants, people seeking asylum and locals.

For those who want to take the sustainable activities one step further, ‘Fix It, Don’t Ditch It’ workshops are available to book online. Running throughout the week, visitors will have the chance to learn new repairing skills, including patchwork and darning. The Livat’s monthly Clothes Mending Circle will also be occurring on the 11th of November.

Contributing to the local circular economy, these events support Livat Hammersmith’s ongoing dedication to sustainable consumption. Livat is proud to host the Library of Things, where 49 items on average are borrowed per week, saving our community £800,000 since opening and reducing a tremendous 800 kg of waste this year. Likewise, Livat’s tenant Atelier100, a multifunctional community store that houses local designers from a 100km radius of London, promotes locally sourced goods.
