Tap and Bottle Wine Bar, SE1: The Perfect Indoor and Outdoor Destina- tion for Great Wines and Small Plates This Winter
Amongst the bustle of Flat Iron Square lies Tap and Bottle, a hidden enclave serving Champagne, wines, and sparkling wines by the glass, both from bottle and on-tap.
Born out of an idea to offer Londoners some of the finest wines from established and lesser- known regions, the cosy, two-story wine bar is the perfect place to enjoy a selection of cold cuts and cheeses, alongside a vast selection of vinos.
Less stuffy than regular wine bars, the informal yet informative drinking destination helps wine drinkers find their new favourite, as well as providing accessible insights into the 100 plus wines on offer for the more casual drinkers.
From Chile to South Africa, and Italy to Greece, Tap and Bottle boast one of the most refined wine lists in SE1.
Stocking natural, low intervention and organic wines – general manager and proud re- ceiver of a WSET L3 award in wine, Alice Ward has made it her mission at Tap and Bottle to educate, promote and present vineyards from across the globe resulting in an expert- ly curated collection of wines. For any visitors keen to scrub up on their grape educa- tion, Tap and Bottle also host tastings in collaboration with wine makers, giving atten- dees all the ammo, they need to flex their knowledge at the next dinner party.
At Tap and Bottle, the approachable and experienced team champions the culture of leisurely drinks that has become the norm in neighbouring European cities. In favour of this sipping style, the wine bar offers a small plates menu featuring artisanal cheese and freshly sliced charcuterie – all sourced from nearby Borough Market.
Housed in a beautiful Grade II listed building, Tap and Bottle’s decor reflects the un- stuffy nature of its approach to wine – think exposed brick walls, velvet furniture, and quirky mismatching wooden chairs and tables. With an outside, heated terrace adorned with lights, Tap and Bottle Wine Bar lends itself to a festive drink or two this winter.
Everything at Tap and Bottle is focused on simplicity; no fuss, no concept, just food and wine, done well, and honestly.
