Taro, the much-loved Japanese restaurant group, is set to open its 10th location on 5th March 2026 with the launch of Taro Crystal Palace on 107 Church Road, bringing its fresh, flavourful, and authentic Japanese dining experience to the heart of this vibrant South London neighbourhood.
Building on the recent openings in Brentwood (May 2024), Catford (June 2024) and Brighton (September 2025), the Crystal Palace opening marks a major milestone in Taro’s UK growth as the group’s 10th restaurant.
Taro Crystal Palace will offer 66 covers in Taro’s signature stylish yet relaxed setting, making a welcome addition to Crystal Palace’s burgeoning dining scene.
Inspired by the Japanese concept of ‘Taishu Shokudo’ (an everyday dining room), Taro Crystal Palace will serve all the signature dishes the brand is known for – from steaming bowls of ramen and udon noodles to beautifully presented sushi, sashimi, and tempura – all made fresh to order using high-quality ingredients from trusted suppliers.
Menu highlights will include gyoza (prawn or grilled chicken) and takoyaki – crispy octopus balls with tangy tonkatsu sauce. Another key offering will be the Taro Bento Boxes – a firm favourite among regulars across all Taro locations, featuring a curated selection of Japanese classics served in traditional red and black bento boxes, from sushi and tempura to katsu and edamame, along with hot miso soup and Japanese rice for an authentic taste of Japan.
The restaurant will also offer a wide selection of ramen and rice dishes, perfect for a comforting main, alongside special bento with different varieties of sashimi, tempura and nigiri. The menu will also comprise a Crystal Palace special roll, a rainbow rolled sushi of salmon, prawn and yellow tail filled with asparagus, avocado and tobiko dressed with spicy mayo.
Drinks will include hot and cold sake, Japanese beers, and a rotating selection of soft drinks, with its signature cocktail – Lychee martini’ – Holy grass vodka, lychee juice, coconut syrup and lime.
Mr Taro, Founder, says: ‘We are incredibly proud to be opening Taro Crystal Palace, marking our 10th restaurant in the UK. Crystal Palace has a strong sense of community, a great independent food scene and a real neighbourhood spirit, which made it feel like the perfect home for this important milestone for Taro.
‘We’re excited to bring our authentic Japanese flavours to the area, from fresh handmade sushi and our much-loved bento boxes to a special dish created exclusively for Crystal Palace by our chefs. As always, guests can expect warm, heartfelt hospitality – the kind Taro has become known for over the past 25 years.
‘Japanese food is truly having a moment in the UK, and I am deeply proud to be sharing the flavours of my home country with British diners. We can’t wait to welcome the people of Crystal Palace into our restaurant, be part of the local community, and share what we love most: great food made with care.’
