Hungry diners will be invited to enjoy The Breakfast Club’s signature innovative take on a classic with this Eggs Benedict special. A toasted English muffin will be topped with succulent smoked gammon, crispy and crunchy shoestring fries, and a poached egg, before being finished off with a generous drizzle of tabasco hollandaise.

While the exact origin of this hugely popular brunch dish remains unknown, legend has it that a hungover Wall Street broker brought Eggs Benedict into the world back in 1894. In the Waldorf Hotel in New York, it’s claimed Lemuel Benedict ordered two poached eggs on top of buttered toast, crispy bacon, plus the hollandaise sauce. It’s believed that Oscar Tschirky, Head Chef at the time loved it so much that Eggs Benedict were added to the breakfast and lunch menu, with a few minor changes including Canadian bacon and toasted English muffin replacing crispy bacon and toast. Whether fact or fiction, The Breakfast Club certainly owe a lot to the humble Benedict, and it’s only right they go all out this month to celebrate the dish in style.
