British independent brand The Camden Watch Company is celebrating ten years of business and releasing a new design to commemorate the anniversary with a new automatic open heart timepiece.

It all began 14 years ago when Anneke Short and Jerome Robert moved from the “Watch Valley” in Switzerland, where they were designing watches for major brands to Camden Town, an area of London Anneke had always wanted to live.

Jerome Robert, co-founder of The Camden Watch Company says: “Moving to Camden, we started our own design company creating watches for other watch brands. After a few years we decided we wanted to create our own designs something we were passionate about so we started developing concepts based around Camden Town. We launched the brand in 2014 as a pop-up shop in Camden as well as an online presence.”

Anneke Short, co-founder The Camden Watch Company says: “It went really well. What surprised both of us with the pop-up was how much we enjoyed it and how much we loved interaction with the customers. We did the pop-up store as a marketing tool but it completely shaped the future of the brand and from that moment on we decided instead of going the traditional route wholesaling to retailers, we wanted our own shop. We opened up our first shop that same year in Camden Market. It was so successful in fact, we sold out of our watches within a month. We literally had to buy back some of our product from other retailers so we could have product in our store!”

Anneke continues: “The past ten years have been amazing, there’s been some highs, and there’s been some challenges, yet we’ve managed to stay independent and still a family run independent business. This day and age it is rare thing and it’s all thanks to our customers.”

“I love being in the shop meeting new people” Jerome Robert said. “It’s been ten years, and we are looking forward to ten more.”

After being in their original location in the Camden Stables Market, they moved into a bigger location in 2019 within the Stables Market.

To celebrate this milestone anniversary, Anneke and Jerome have created a new automatic timepiece.
