The Cause announces RAVE SAFE fundraiser for drug awareness and harm reduction

Sadly on July 31st, a 21 year old club goer named Bill passed away in hospital after a suspected drug overdose. The previous night the person attended The Cause.

The team have been absolutely devastated by the news and is now working to help create a larger conversation around drug awareness and harm reduction within the clubbing environment. This Sunday’s event called ‘RAVE SAFE’ will give all proceeds to The Loop in the hope it will help stop further incidents of this nature from happening in the future.

The Loop is a not for profit Community Interest Company established in 2013 which provides drug safety testing, welfare and harm reduction services at nightclubs, festivals and other leisure events. The team also provide staff training on drugs awareness, in-house welfare service delivery, the prevention of drug related harm at events, and the delivery of ethical ‘front of house’ drug safety testing services which play an important part in saving lives.

Stuart Glen from The Cause says “Sadly this is one of many incidents involving hospitalisation or death that has occurred in recent weeks since clubs have re-opened in the UK. We want to prevent further tragedies and we want to help educate and raise awareness as much as possible.”

The full line up includes Alexis, ALNA, Amaliah, Blixa b2b Tia Cousins, Colin Chiddle, Earful Of Wax, Grainger, Harry James, Kiara Scuro, Kiwi, Late Night Shopper, Michelle Manetti, Moscoman, Or:la, Sam Togni, Scarlett O’Malley, Subb-an, System Inc, Tasha, Wes Baggaley plus some special announced guests.

For those that can’t make the event, Bill’s family have also gone on to create a fundraiser in his memory. The fundraiser will give all the money to BIMM whose aim is to help young people find their place in the music industry and drug awareness charities within the nightlife industry.
